
File/Import submenu
Choose one of these commands to import a MusicXMLA standard open format for exchanging digital sheet music. MusicXML provides a solution for tasks such as publishing interactive musical scores on the Internet and collaborating with other musicians who use different music applications. file, a scanned document, or a TIFFTagged Image File Format—format for storing bitmap images/graphics. This format is supported on both Mac and Windows (.tif extension) and does not require a PostScript printer. file.
- MusicXML. Choose this command to display the Import MusicXML dialog box, where you can choose a MusicXML file to import. Finale can import MusicXML 3.0 files (compressed and uncompressed, .mxl and .xml), MusicXML 2.0 files, MusicXML 1.1 files, and MusicXML 1.0 files. You can also drag-and-drop your MusicXML file onto Finale.
- SmartScore Lite Scan. Choose this command to open the SmartScore lite dialog box where you can configure scanning settings for Finale import. See Scanning for details.
- TIFF File. Use this command to open the SmartScore Lite dialog box where you can preview and transcribe a scanned file using Finale’s built-in SmartScore technology. See Scanning for more information and tips.
