Note: If you want to hide empty staves
when printing a full score, see To hide empty staves.
Use this method to hide staves that contain
source music for ossia measures. Or, hide other staves that you don’t
want printed; for example, staves containing notes for playback only,
such as written-out trills, turns, or doubled parts.
- Click the Staff tool . The Staff menu
appears.
- Select a staff, then choose Staff > Edit Staff Attributes. (Or, double-click a staff, a staff handle,
or a staff name.) Or, choose Staff > Edit Staff Attributes
without selecting a staff. The Staff Attributes dialog box appears. To
display the attributes of another staff, choose a staff from the Staff
Attributes for drop-down menu. (Or, use the arrow controls
to select a staff from the Staff Attributes for drop-down menu.)
- In the Options section, check Force Hide Staff > and Collapse, then click OK The staff disappears, and adjacent staves adjust, closing the gap between them. Any staff that
you hide using this method will still appear in any Staff Lists, but “(hidden)”
will appear after the staff’s name in the list. (Note: To hide a staff in the score only, choose in Score Only instead of and Collapse. To hide a staff without collapsing the adjacent staves, choose Cutaway.)
To view staves that have been force hidden, and/or remove this Staff Style and show the music, move to Scroll View. Hidden staves are always visible in Scroll View.
To hide staves with notes for specific systems only, see To hide staves with music from specific systems.
