You’ve already heard your music using Finale’s playback features to spot-check notes and hear the instruments together. But playback is good for so much more than just checking for wrong notes. Many of the markings you’ve entered will affect playback as well. Also, in the same way that expressions and articulations inform the performer how to play the music, Finale’s Human Playback feature will read and interpret your markings.
Finale also includes a library of more realistic playback sounds, called the Garritan instruments, that can transform the music you’ve written using performance-quality sounds. This chapter will show you how to use both of these features.
